Precision 7920 : CPU performance issues

Hi all, We have two Precision 7920 machines: #1: two Xeon Gold 5220 R,  128 GB RAM ( 8 x 16 GB modules, Micron )#2: two Xeon Gold 6248 R,  128 GB RAM  (2 x 64 GB modules, Samsung ) We hoped  machine #2 would be more powerful, because it is equipped with more powerful CPUs (Xeon 6248R > Xeon 5220R).Nevertheless, our own numerical codes take as much time to complete on both machines, which surprised us. Using PassMark benchmarking software, we notice that on some tests, machine#2 does not scale when increasing the number of processes, unlike machine #1:   As far as we can tell, OS version and BIOS settings are the same across both machines. Could the memory configuration difference ( 8 vs 2 modules) such a behaviour ? (By the way, machine #2 cannot pass the memory test from the  'Dell Support Assist ' webpage) Thanks for your help, Regards, Nico

Hello, personally speaking, I suspect that to be the issue indeed, since you are using less memory channels You could do a quick test and try to swap the ram modules
