Precision 7920 SAS support

I have a Dell Precision 7920. When I insert a SAS drive into one of the drive bays, it does not power on. SATA drives work. Does this computer support SAS drives by default? If not, what do I have to do to get support?

    You can use Broadcom MegaRAID SAS 9440-8i or 9460-16i with proper backplane.
