T5600 GPU and PSU

Sorry for not being a very tech-literate person.

I got a new graphic card to upgrade the one I have on my T5600 but it requires an 8pin connection. The PSU Installed for the T5600 (even the one I have which is an 825W) does not offer such a connection for the GPU.

Is there a 3rd party unite I can get to replace the Dell PSU for Inspiron T5600? Obviously power is not the issue in this case but rather the connections.

Thank you!

hi yes

this can be done but you wouldn't need a new PSU use this cable it connects to the existing 6 pin cable and makes it an 8 pin dual cable

hope that helps

Thank you for the suggestion but it is my understanding that this will provide the full power required which means that the graphic card might or might not work but even if it does, it will not run at the full capacity expected from it. I do a lot of GPU rendering and what’s the point of having a powerful GPU if I can’t use it to it’s full power!

the GPU should be fine

I have tried a 1050ti in mine and a 1070 and neither have issues with power as the PSU is more than capable

Hello. The cable splitter with 6+8 pin is handle 225W total output, and yor 825W PS could fead it with, on the pcie connector the vga take 75 W, so the total could be 300W...
I have a TITAN VGA and it is work with fine. * I have 5810 825 W PSU.. When used this VGA with 685 Watts PSU it failed at full load.

Well, technically, the PSU card has one 8-pin Power VGA socket. I want to install my RTX 2080 TI with requires 2X 8-pin (6+2) connection to provide it with the 250w required. So obviously a splitter will not work because it will only provide 150W, and the way I see it Is either one of two options:

1. Replace the PSU card with one that has 2X8-pin VGA sockets, or

2. Replace the full PSU and the card with one that has the connections needed

Which one of those two options do you think is doable? And is there a third option I do not know?

Thanks

This is getting more and more interesting with RTX3000 series arond the corner!

What if I have a single CPU setup, a T3610 with a E5-2650 v2, and I would just pop in a 825W PSU AND change the power distro board with one that has a POWER_CPU2 connector? Could that CPU2 be utilized as the 2nd 8 PIN VGA power? What is the PIN layout there? Shouldn't that grant another, separate 18A lane?

If so, that would be plenty of power!

OK, those are completely different shape and wiring wise as well. So...you'd also need an adapter or some handcrafting?
