T7920 5.25" Drive Rails

I also have the same problem. There's no 5.25" drive rails available. How are we supposed to put something into the 5.25" slot if the rails aren't provided?

So the whole metal cage isn't there for that and a slim DVD drive?  I couldn't track it down as a separate part either.

From the 7920 manual:

I think they were looking for two pieces of rectangle plastics rails.  These rails usually are attached to the inside of 5.25" drive cage.  Users must remove them from the drive cage, the rails then will be attaching to both sides of the optical drive using the included x4 screws, see picture below.

Hi @Chino de Oro , by any chance can you track down the part?  I keep finding rails for rack servers, 3.5 HDD's, and so on.

Sorry Brad, I do not have any better luck finding those rails.  But Dell included them as part of the drive bay.  Sometimes, users overlooked but found them at the end.

They don't ship to the United States and the only ones I can find here are much more than that.

I don't think that is the correct part - I think that is the that part lets you add a 5.25 drive bay instead of the bottom HD bays. The one on top is a slightly different shape and has a smaller front bezel.

The black rails in the manual feel the same given with the 7910 ( and that are screwed to the cage ).

The problem is that the 7910 bay has an image on it showing clearly that they are there, and need to be used to install a drive ... while the 7920 has nothing like that visible in online pics.

Ah   , saw the ones in US and indeed those are too high priced

i know it's that part, but includes the rails and that company sells it for 14 or 15 euro. Feels a reasonably cheap price to just then use the 2 rails

What about trying to contact the various companies selling those kits, mentioning the issue and asking if they could give you the measures of those  rails ? ( you could 3d print them )

The tower in that video appears to be a 7910, and based on the optical bay drive cage that I'm currently holding in my hand, the 7920 does not have the same design.  No sign of the rails in this thing, unfortunately.  I can post photos, if anyone wants proof...   I figure they have to be in the case somewhere, since surely Dell has to provide them!  I think I may try contacting support to see if they have any ideas about where to find the rails.
