Dell specs list 6th and 7th generation Intel CPU's. Microsoft states MINIMUM of 8th generation Intel CPU. Thus this model does not meet Microsoft's published CPU support.

I believe that Dell should support Precision 5520 with Intel 7820HQ processor since Microsoft stated that this processor is compatible for Win 11 (see https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2021/08/27/update-on-windows-11-minimum-system-requirements-and-the-pc-health-check-app/)

Actually if you look on this list you will see that MS has listed that CPU as now supported with the following caveat:
Only select devices that shipped with modern drivers based on Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps (DCH) design principles.
And in fact the 5520 is listed as supported specifically on this page. So patience would seem to be the keyword as Dell and many manufacturers have to sort out the updated support lists. I would assume that if drivers are required they will eventually show up. Remember the RTM is not due for another month so there is a lot to change on the Dell support pages.
And in fireberd's defense, when he posted his reply he was spot on. At the time it was not supported. A Lot has changed and is still changing as we speak.

As am I in the Beta channel. But I am running on a quite older laptop. An E5430 to be exact and it is also running without a problem. Even with TPM 1.2, SecureBoot, and a gen 3 CPU it is stable and faster than Windows 10. But the time is coming when I will probably be booted off the channel or so the latest MS news has stated.

Thanks for your response, which adds new info from Microsoft directly about Dell Precision 5520 support. As you said, we have to wait until Dell updates their support pages with this information. By the way, I'm a Windows Insider (Beta channel) with Win 11 installed in a 5520 machine and it runs perfectly.

I have the Insider Win 11 installed on my desktop (dual boot with my production Win 10). From what I read, the Insider versions do not require TPM or have the CPU restrictions. Oct 5 is target date to release (RTM) Win 11, we will find out then what the "real" requirements are. I'm hoping my Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 laptop gets included as it has a 7th gen i5.

Well then, the official release is with us, the list on the MS site still specifically lists the 5520 with i7-7820HQ but I'm not able to install it.

Did you run PC Health and see what issues it reports? The link from Microsoft to the PC Health application is here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewpchealth
Please let us know what it says.

Yes you can install W11.
Using W11 Media Tool and setting the BIOS correctly you too can install W11.
Dell will not support drivers for systems that do not meet Microsoft's requirements for W11.
But at this time Microsoft is supporting systems with W11 drivers, Security and Cumulative updates on systems that do not meet its own requirements??? "Strange"
I have installed W11 on an E5530 "For Testing" 3rd Gen CPU with TPM 1.2.
It's faster running W11 than when it was running W10.
If you need help setting up the BIOS let me know.
Best regards and good luck,

I have a Precession 5520 and W11 doesn't like the processor ie DCH. What is the setting in the BIOS that will enable installing W11? Any help would be appreciated.

I just upgraded with no issues I just waited for Microsoft to offer. Every time I tried any other way it failed.
