Overheating problem of DELL Precision 3551

These are very powerful laptops, all closed up into a very small package. To me, sounds like more cooling (ie better fan curves) would be a good place to start,

I don't have one of these but I do have a XPS-15 (9520) Intel i7 / 32gb / Nvidia RTX-3050 .

I would suggest:
- SpeedFan to adjust the system-and-CPU fans up higher
- MSI After-Burner to adjust the GPU fans up higher (better fan-curves)
- Maybe even Throttle-Stop to control CPU-Speed and various other things

That should take care of it. The desktop Precision Workstation towers (with similar hardware inside) are much larger providing for better airflow.. Larger fans are used, than can run slower and still cool adequately. There is no magic here, just physics (thermal dynamics).

And for measuring thermals, I found this to be better: CPU-ID's HW-Monitor .

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately all these remedial measures are just vain as Dell engineers replaced almost all the parts anticipating some may be culprit but its still the same. After sales service engineer told that I should consult customer center but they seem to be helpless though.. Dont know if others are also facing the same problem and its a design fault or not....People should not surprise that the fan, motherboard, thermal paste and cpu are changes twice under warranty and my laptop is still in warranty so I am also surprised why its happening like this. If its a design fault then entire series users must be facing the same issue.

I think you can have all that hardware replaced as many times as you can endure, and it will still work about the same as before.

If you do as I suggested, you might be able to work-around these issues and start getting some good-use from the laptop.

It's your choice.

Thanks for the reports alerting other users, but I'm afraid they are also now tied to this purchase and just looking for solutions and/or work-arounds. See my post above and also ...

... a quality "laptop cooler" base would likely go a long away to resolving any heat-retention and over-heating problems. It should be a design that collects the heat from the bottom and exhausts it away. I am forced to use similar-units on my Spectrum-DVR, Onkyo-AVR, Sony-PS4-Pro, etc. and now they work without over-heating.

I was having problems with temperatures on this same model. The temperatures was decreasing a lot after the change of thermopades on the radiator.
