Precision 7760 Win11 Support Assist Driver Update fail draws error - workaround?
Dell Support Assist does not appear to be updating drivers on my 7760.
-There's no history of previously updated drivers in the support assist history log (does it delete history after a certain date?)
-History of current attempts to update drivers through Support Assist reads; "Drivers & Downloads (Web) - No updates available - Error - [Date]
...
Drivers & Downloads (Manual) - No updates available -Error - [Date]" etc.
1)
After a couple tries I was able to manually load the list of drivers available for the 7760 which is ~ 30 drivers, but no indication of which ones I should install.
I figure I need to start at the bottom, check the driver version number against what is installed on my computer and install the most current driver only, not previous updates that weren't installed? If it ain't broke don't fix it?
2)
I went down this path because I had an app that wanted me to update my graphics drivers. The version numbering of the graphics drivers on the Dell website doesn't match how the version numbers are on the Nvidia site. The most current 'Production Branch [stable release]' version of driver for the Nvidia RTX A3000 Laptop GPU listed on the nividia website is R535 U1 released 5/30/2023 . The most recent graphics driver listed on the dell site is 30.0.15.1236, A15 released almost a year ago 6/20/2022. The driver installed on my computer (which is either factory or installed by Support Assist before it stopped working) is R517.51 which that exact number does not show up on the nvidia website but 517 drivers were generally released between September and December 2022. Should I install the R535 U1 or should I install the 30.0.15.1236 listed on Dell site as most recent driver update?
Another point, the Nvidia Website driver package R535 U1 claims support for both Windows 10 & 11 while the Dell listed 30.0.15.1236 only claims support for Windows 10. This computer came from Dell with Windows 11 installed.
