1235CN

I have a 1235CN printer.  I have now ordered 3 sets of new cartridges because the printer will not recognize the new cartridges.  The only revision in the cartridge I can see if the small tabs you hold onto while sliding in the new cartridge.  They are stationary vs movable on the older cartridges.  The printer is telling me "invalid cartridge" .  I have removed the orange cover and the tape but still won't work.  I can't even get it to print grayscale.  Could it be the pins where it injects the color?  Any help will be appreciated. Ready to buy new printer.  thanks.
