I am having the same problem.  My printer was working fine since July 2003 however, I had some problems with that Mcaffee security, and Dell's customer service helped me to take that off my computer.  After I did this my printer was showing a red circle with a slash across it in the control panel under add/remove programs.  I have no idea how that got there.  When I looked into systems, the device manager said that everything was working properly for the printer.  I then uninstalled my printer and reinstalled it and the message I got when attempting to reinstall was that the spooler service was unavailable and to click 'yes' to continue the install.  Nothing happened when I clicked yes.  It just remained idle.  Also when I try to add printer from the control panel, the computer gives me a "operation cannot be completed".  What the heck is going on with my printer?  I did not have this problem until I went throught the steps that the Dell customer service tech sent me through.  I tried fixing the printer problem with the tech and she suggested that I do a system restore.  Why would I have to do that.  I am afraid that this is going to make the problem worse.  I will have to save all of my documents and do a system overhaul.  That would be fine, but I do not trust the tech support seeing that this is not the only call I have made.  It is very difficult to understand tech support especially when you are frustrated with a system that I feel have not been effiicent.  I am very disappointed.  By the way I have a Dimension 2400 with windows XP and A920 printer.  Please can someone help me to fix this problem without having to confuse my system even more with a system restore.  Lynneen
