AIO 948 Network Access

I have installed this printer on my wireless network and it is functioning fine for the two XP laptops that connect via the wireless network.  I am having a problem connecting a computer using Vista via the wired network connection.  It seems that when you connect a USB cable the wireless connection is dropped and it will not connect via the network for the hard wired computer.  I have attempted to add the port on the desktop machine and use it, but it fails.  I can force the driver, but it never auto detects the connection and the Dell installation software refuses to configure it unless it is using a wireless connection.

Some help would be appreciated in what should be a simple configuration issue.

    TxDrifter,

Do not connect the printer to the desktop with a USB Cable.

You have the two laptops working with the printer fine, correct. Now on the vista machine, please run the patch. It will prompt you when to restart your computer. Restart your computer. Download the drivers from below, then when you double click on the drivers, the folder will open, right click on setup.exe, then left click on run as administrator and follow the instructions.

When installing the drivers, choose network. You may or may not have the option that the printer is wireless and/or is connected to a wireless print serves. You'll need to choose one of those options. The printer will be found on your network without you having to connect the printer to the computer, it picks up the signal through your wired connection with the wireless router.

Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch(a MUST on Vista machines) untiul it prompts you to restart yopur computer.

    Restart your computer.

    Download the proper drivers.

Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.

Okay, that got it to work.  The patch (uninstaller) does not function very well.  Even running as Administrator it "hangs" and you have to force it to produce the restart message.  I was able to get it to clean it up that it allowed the re-install as if it was clean and it is now functioning correctly.  Thanks for the help.

    TxDrifter,

Yes, you'd be surprised how many people think you have to connect the USB Cable to the printer. Glad you got it working and thanks for posting back.

    Take care,
