Can not connect to 5100cn color laser printer via network

I need some help. I can not connect to my Dell 5100cn Color Laser Printer (1394 Network Adapter) via the Network or through USB. When I open the printer properties, options, "get information from printer" and click search printers,  it says, "Unable to find Dell Laser Printer 5100cn PCL6 printer from the network".

OK..... I asked you to do two things: Ping and print a "settings" page.

What is the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway that are printed on the settings page?

Bummer.....

Click Start, then click Run
In the Open box, type SERVICES.MSC, then press the enter key or click OK
Scroll down the list to Print Spooler, make sure it says Started and that Startup Type is set

for Automatic. If you click on the Print Spooler entry, you can also Stop/Start or Restart the

Print Spooler service. Please try Restarting the service.

We're just about out of options here.

Greetings,

The printer is working through the USB connection. Solving the download problem did it -the driver was not properly uninstalled. However, I still haven't been able to work the printer through the network. I applied your last instruction, everything checked out ok . . . . I haven't given up, but at least I can use the printer in the office.

OK.....

Glad to hear from you..... thought you gave up.

Leave the USB cable plugged in (the printer will work with both data sources) and connect a live network data cable to the printer. Wait about 30 secs then print a Printer Settings page. Does an IP address get provided to the printer?

Hope to hear from you soon.
