I have Inspiron and Okidata C5500 laser jet. When I try plug and play, and I have added the printer, when I click on properties I get an error message of:
function address 0x68641b91 caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000094)
Disconnect your printer. Make a System Restore Point. Download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove your printer. Choose your printer only. Restart your computer.
Just make sure the printer is not installed anywhere.
Try looking at start, all programs, Okidata printer and look for an un-install program.
Look in Control panel, add/remove programs and make sure it's not there.
Look in control panel, printer and faxes and make sure it's not there.
Also right click start left click explore. scrool down until you see the Programs Files folder. Click on the + sign and look to make sure there isn't a folder there for Okidata. If so, delete the folder.
Restart your computer.
Now try installing the latest drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect the printer.
I uninstalled/delete everything Okidata, then rebooted. Plugged in printer, it said found hardware, but didnt ask for driver. Sometimes nothing appears in printers and faxes until I turn on the print spooler. Then it still doesnt work, if I click properties on the printer, it gives protection fault error. Not sure how to fix this crazy problem.
The problem here was you deleted and made sure everything was gone. Restarted your computer. At that point, you should have tried to install the drivers. It then would have asked you to connect the printer. Connecting the printer early causes Windows to install the wrong drivers and that's why it's NOT working.
I installed the driver(s) from the original Okidata disk, then followed the instructions to plug
in the printer and turn it on. Next it went through the found hardware sequence. At the end, I got an error message that said The RPC server attempted an integer division by zero.
I then looked at "services" and see what the remote procedure call was doing. There are 2 services with that name, and both were already started, and in automatic mode.
Clicking proerties under printers and faxes on the Okidata still gives a fault protection error.
And the install wizard says "there may be a problem with your printer".
You do have all of your Windows Updates, correct? I usually take the custom ones, also. Someone else had a problem installing a HP Printer and found out they were missing 2 updates.
If your computer has all the windows ipdates, custom also and you cannot get the printer to install, then you should contact Okidata for support.

Download the latest drivers from here.
