Hello, I'm having a problem to install the printer on my backup notebook IBM T40. This notebook is running a pention M on 1,5 GHz. Anyhow, the system is showing only 598 MHz. The driver requirement is 800 MHz. So the first requirement testing is failing and the driver won't be installed. I'm hving no idea how I can pass the test. Is there any chance to pass it? I would appreciate the help. :emotion-8:
I'm not sure I can help. If you would post the make and model of your computer and operating system and the CORRECT model number of the printer(Dell does not have a 986 printer, that I know of) and how you're trying to connect the printer to the computer. USB or wireless card in printer or wireless print server.
Absolutely right.... it is a DELL 968 AIO printer. The OS I'm using is XP with SP3 on IBM t40. I did purchase the wireless card. The card is working properly as I'm having 3 other PC's connecting with the printer via network. I did download the latest driver from dell homepage today. thanks Raik
Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.
As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.
Hello Rick, i was even trying to close the thread. I was trying to verify some details about pc type and real error message. So I was simply executing again the install routine and it was working properly. As I was trying to explain, I had a topic that the driver installation test failed because CPU speed was not matching 800 MHz (default requirement). Even having a 1,5GHz Pentium M only 598 MHz were shown in control panel. Anyhow, after the 3rd reboot ist is showing full 1,5GHz and the installation went well. I supose, there was properly some power saving function enabled reducing the CPU speed to 598 MHz. At the moment I can't reproduce the problem and I'm happy now. Raik
