I have a very mysterious problem. My 720 printer worked fine this spring before I disconnected it for the summer to go away. When I came back - not having changed ANY settings - it won't print. I re-installed the drivers, it printed the preliminary test page, and now I'm having the same problem all over again. I send something to print, and it says "printing," but it's just SITTING there in the print queue. For over an hour now. I've unplugged and re-plugged everything in several times and, like I said, re-installed all the drivers. What can I do? What's wrong with my printer??
Yes, the printer worked with this computer before, and I didn't use any other printers while I was away. The 720 is the default and is always selected when I print - the jobs are getting stuck in the 720 print queue. I haven't installed any virus programs or firewalls.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
This printer was setup and worked with this computer before?
When you were away, did you use a printer in another location? If so, click on start, control panel, printers and devices and make sure your Dell 720 Printer is selected as the default printer.
When you print from different applications, click on fil, print and make sure the proper printer is selected.
Did you recently install a different virus program or firewall?
Some of Dell's older printer have limited drivers, but they still work. I have seen people have different language operating syste, like French and needed drivers to work. We have found a work-around for this that works well.
Virus protection is very important for an operating system. Some Dell computers came with McAfee, Norton or some other type of virus protection installed. Your problem could be malware related or just some other type of issue.
I would also suggest installing a virus program like FREE Avast Home Edition to protect your computer from viruses and malware. Register it's free and wshen it expires, register again and it's still free, unless you decide to buy the upgraded version.
I don't know what you mean by language, but no, it wasn't recently installed. NOTHING about this computer has changed since I last printed, except I think I updated Java or something. Would that affect it?
I don't think I have any virus software; Firewall is whatever's installed on the computer originally. I checked to make sure it's allowing communication with the printer, and it is.
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
