Problems Scanning to Computer

I have an All-in-One 968.  I have it set up on my wireless network.  I am able to print to it so I presume that the network connection is fine.  I am able to scan a document and it winds up as a file in my "pictures" directory, along with all of my folders of pictures from my camera.

Two things are going wrong.  I have the scanner set up to send the document to "paper port" but it winds up in that picture directory so when I try to open it I get an error from Paper Port (which opens) saying that it can't find the file in any of ITS directories.

As I worked my way through the manual I came to the instruction (page 79 as well as an online help file) which tells me to open the All-in-One center, go to the scanning and copying tab, and select the program I want to use from the "send scanned image to: drop down menu".  The problem is that I can't access that.  I can't put my cursor there, and the see more settings option is not active.  The "scan now" button is not active either.

Basically, all I'm trying to do is set up the scanner so I can scan my documents into Paper Port.  Should be an easy thing to do, no?  :smileyindifferent:

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?  I've been working on this problem, nonstop, for nine hours now!

Thanks for any help.

Mike

Recommended wireless router setting...

Update the firmware in your wireless router(Make and model needed, manufacturer's website)

Broadcast SSID(Change this. It will make it easier to connect.)

Use WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security. Most wireless devices work best with this type of security.)

Mixed b and g mode(n if available)

Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most wireless devices work best on these channels.

Save and exit. Power everything off. Wait 30 seconds then turn everything back on try and connect.

Disconnect your printer. Un-install your printer. Use start, all programs, Dell Printer, AIO 968 un-install.

Restart your computer.

Download the proper drivers.

XP Drivers

Vista 32-bit Drivers

All other drivers

If you're using the wireless card in the printer, then read this article.

How Do I Connect a Dell™ Wireless Printer to a Wireless Network

Select your printer. Under your printer select your operating system. It will redirect you to another page. Click on show all steps and follow the instructions.

If using a wireless print server, then setup the wireless print server first. Attach the wireless print server to the computer with the USB Cable and insert the disk and follow the instructions. Should ask for SSID, type of security and password.

Now install the printer. Select network, select using a wireless print server and follow the instructions.

After the printer is installed, then open the Dell All-In-One Center. Click on scanning and copying. Select update the list of applications to send scans to. In the upper right corner click add. Type Paper Port in the top line. Browse to C: programs files, find paper port and find the application to send scans to. Select a extension that you want paper port to use. You can then move it up the list. You can also do an enhanced search and it will find some applications that you might want to use.
