I'm having problems getting the printer to connect to the wireless router.
The printer works fine on USB.
Using the Dell setup wizard the printer sees the network on the wireless router (BTHomehub) but when I try to connect to it won't accept the SSID and says I need to change my settings.
The orange wi-fi indicator LED stays lit.
I have tried everything I can think of; uninstalling/reinstalling the software, changing the wireless router password/encryption (every combination of WEP, WPA, TKIP, etc), resetting the printer to factory defaults, removing wireless settings from the printer ( using the buttons on the printer).
When I interrogated the printer I noticed the SSID was set to 'print server 600279', the Wireless Security Mode was 'Disabled' and the 'Trouble Code says 'Can't find Wireless Network'.
Is 'print server 600279' a Dell factory default or is it possibly a historical SSID in a reconditioned printer?
The printer was purchased new.
Should the Wireless Security Mode be 'Disabled?
I can't find any way to change/remove these settings using either the buttons on the printer or via the USB cable.
Change your SSID. This will make connecting easier.
Use WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security (Personal)
Password 13 characters long.
Use mixed mode.
Use channel 11.
Save and exit. Power off your isp modem/router and also power off your wireless router. Wait 30 seconds. Power on your ISP modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on your wireless router.
Restart your computer. Now try to connect to your new network.
Now you'll need to setup the printer like you did when you purchased it.
Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.
Then you'll need to install the printer drivers. More instructions can be found at...
I had already tried most of what you suggested but I did it all again as you specified.
Still no joy.
I think the problem is with the printer and the existing network settings that are in it.
I need a way to clear those settings, I know with Epson printers you used to be able to hold down a combination of buttons on the printer and then switch the printer on, this would take it back to a factory default state. Does anyone know if this is possible with Dell printers?
I did notice, with another forum member, that a Belkin Wireless N router would not recognize the WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security (Personal). Of course the wireless adapter/cards in these printers are for wireless G networks.
I have a Dell V715w Wireless Printer. On my network I had no problems connecting. I did have a Dell 3300 wireless print adapter and in order to change the network, I told it to connect to the neighbors network(which I did not have a password) and typed anything for a password. It told me it could not connect. I then went and then told it my network and password and it connected with no problems.
If you go to this link I provided, it tells you how to reset the printer and it's network card
Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.
Reset the Printer's Wireless Network Adapter

Press the left or right button until NetworkSetup appears, then press the select button.
Press the left or right button until Reset Network Adapter Defaults appears, then press the select button.
Press the left or right button until Yes appears, then press the select button.
Note:
It may take 2-3 minutes for the wireless network adapter settings to be reset.
I've been having the same problem with my dell v305w printer connecting wirelessly to my network since changing from WEP to WPA security as you describe in your March postings. . I have received the same instructions from the community as to what to do, but still have not been able to get that blue light on. I've used the panel on the printer to supposedly clear the settings, but that doesn't seem to have any effect. Was wondering if you ever got your printer to work? I'm about to quit and just use the usb cord, but saw your postings and thought I'd ask how you made out. Don't know if you're still looking at this site, but thought it was worth a try.
