Vista 922 Drivers Do NOT work!!!

The drivers do not work at all in a network situation.

Everytime I try to get my main desktop system to connect to the printer (hooked up to my wife's PC) it says "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The print processor does not exist."

Ok, so why did it work when both PC's had XP?

This is only the 2nd Vista issue I've had in 2 year of testing and using this OS.

The other issue was a faulty wireless card from Belkin.

I'd really like to have my printer working sometime soon, I've waited months and I'm getting slightly impatient.

If you're going to attempt to help someone perhaps you should do the research before posting.

The Vista drivers were already released & the function only to a certain extent, they work for local printing, but not properly for network printing.

I'm sorry if this comes off rude, but I hate people who come in to a thread and post false information without doing the proper research.

    :(

I have a 942 AIO printer and I installed the new drivers and can print. However, I get error messages when trying to scan or fax saying these functions are not available. Is that related to the "partial functionality" comment? And are there plans to fix this or is my "printer/copier/scanner/fax" permanently reduced to a mere "printer/copier"?

Sorry. I have a correction. I am able to scan (couldn't yesterday??), but I can't fax. I can't find MS Fax in Vista. Did Microsoft do away with the program, and if so can anyone recommend different fax software?

To Morpheus Phreak: Well why are you complaining about the network drivers if you already know about them? Why post the thread at all ? That's why I said April, going on what you said.

Here's an update to my own post:

I am using Vista Home Premium. Anyone using Vista Basic or Home Premium  - you do not have fax software from Microsoft with your OS. More expensive versions of Vista have a program called Windows Fax and Scan. I have seen several references to "Snappy Fax" as an alternative. It comes with a 30-day free trial, then it costs $29.99. If anyone is aware of a free fax software program that is compatible with Vista Home Premium - please post. Thanks.

I didn't complain about any network drivers.

I said I had an issue with a faulty network card.

I already replaced that and what I am saying is that the drivers that Dell released for the A922 printer do not work properly.

They allow you to print only on the PC that is directly hooked to the printer via USB.

If you try to print from any other PC on the network it does not work properly.

I was stating that in all of the years that I've tested ran Vista that I've only ran into 2 issues.

One of them actually ended up not being a vista issue, the network card had just died.

The other issue is with these faulty drivers for the A922 that Dell has released.

Also I didn't state anything about April in my post, you did.

The drivers are out, and they do not work properly...end of story on that one.

To Morpheus Phreak:  HI,  YOU ARE CORRECT!!!

I have a Dell 926 AIO, 3300 Wireless adapter, and a Inspiron E1505 running Vista.  I have done everything to fix the connecting issues.  Downloaded the driver updates and even foolishly let the Dell Tech talk me into reseting my laptop to factory settings, I had to reinstall everything.  The new driver does not work for networking.  I'm ready to box up the printer and send it back but I just purchased 4 new high end ink cartridges.  I keep losing the printer communication, the printer reconnects wirelessly if I restart my computer.

Did I mention that the wireless adapter they sent me is also not vista capable, I had to download a driver for that also.

This is my 2nd Dell Laptop and I love it, but very disappointed with Dell Service and their printers.

Why do you keep putting at the end of your message "Dell...Our Customer Service is Finally Getting Better!!!"   I've been on the phone with them several times until 1:30 am and they all have different ways of fixing my printer and messing up my laptop.

I'm calling customer service and returning the printer. I have a Lexmark I bought at Walmart for $89 that is  not wireless but it scans, prints and faxes.  I'll wait until they come out with a wireless that works.

SORRY FOR GOING ON AND ON, BUT I'M TIRED OF THESE TECHS AND DELL

To answer the last question first, the reason that's at the end of my posts is that it's part of my signature.

On the forums you can have items contained that always show up after your post.

I put that there because on the Customer Service side of things they are finally getting better in quite a few ways, and it's taken a long time.

I finally did get the printers working together, but it required a full reinstall of Vista on all 3 systems.

What I finally found out was that the installer for the driver doesn't remove all traces of the driver or settings when you uninstall.

So if the driver didn't work the first time around then it won't work any other times either.

Once I did a clean install however and switched a couple settings then the other PC's would actually communicate with the printer.

However you're right about the wireless adapter, that thing can just be an outright pain to setup.  There has to be an easier way to get that to work.  Thankfully I have the printer hooked up to one of my desktops that's always on.  It keeps me from pulling me hair out with the wireless adapter issues :(
