I think the fix is that DCU needs to install it's own Windows service, separate from any service the SupportAssist tools need to use.

I completely agree with your suggestion. I used to have multiple Dell utilities like Dell SupportAssist, Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery, Dell Update for Windows Universal , etc. installed on my Inspiron 5584, and an uninstall of one of those programs would often remove or corrupt the shared Dell Client Management Service and prevent my other Dell utilities from running correctly.

This issue has been known for years, but Dell seems incapable of fixing it
