Dell command update client management service
Hi, I have a problem and I know how to solve it. But I do wish this weren't a problem to begin with. When I set up any Dell laptop using SupportAssist OS Recovery to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows 11, it helpfully installs a bunch of supportassist software and Dell Command Update. When I uninstall the SupportAssist software (there are 3, SupportAssist OS recovery, Dell Support Assist and Dell Support Assist they uninstall the server "Dell client management" from the PC. The problem is - Dell Command Update STILL NEEDS TO USE the service "Dell Client Management", so DCU is broken.
I think the fix is that DCU needs to install it's own Windows service, separate from any service the SupportAssist tools need to use. But I can't make this fix happen, it's something Dell needs to work on.
The fix is to completely uninstall and reinstall DCU. But that's a pain, since it was already installed and working prior to me removing the other SupportAssist software.
Dell, please consider separating the service for DCU from the service for SupportAssist.
Thanks!
