Dell Support Software acting like malware
Nobody at Dell is going to like to hear this.
I've had this computer since early December. I will not pay money for a cloud backup service, because most of my important files are just writing files that fit easily onto Dropbox. However, I can't seem to make Dell Backup and Recovery to leave me alone. It pops up often and nags me to pay for services (that sounds like malware to me).
Also, some system software run by Dell claimed that there was a serious error/problem on my computer and insisted I make a support login so it could submit a trouble ticket. When i did, it then claimed that it couldn't submit the ticket and I should upgrade to a paid level of support to get the ticket submitted. Not once did it try to tell me what the problem was. I went to the support site and downloaded (as prompted by the site) a program called Dell System Detect and ran a diagnostic of my system (possibly with software resident on the site) and found no problems. Except that the popup message keeps coming back insisting I pay up.
If I have a problem on my computer I want to know what it is so i can judge who to contact for help and if it requires money. I consider this kind of tactic just one step above robbery.
I've even tried accessing My Dell Downloads to get original software media, but after clicking the license agreement and the button NOTHING happens.
I like the computer itself, but I've had it up to here with Dell support.

Dell Backup and Recovery can be uninstalled from the programs option in the control panel. This should stop the popup. The program is not malware installed on your computer. Also, can you provide the name of the Dell software that keeps popping up telling you that your computer has serious errors? Below is a link to My Dell Downloads to download your installed software. I'll remove the one program. I realize that the Backup and Recovery program isn't some malware installed by someone else but any program that pops up multiple times a day, kicking me out of other programs in the process, and begging for money is more than an annoyance.
Yes, that is the site that is giving me problems. By fighting with IE, which I don't use unless I must, I got past supposedly installing an add-on but nothing happens on my end after that. And nothing is different when I go the site.
As for the program that won't tell me what the problem is but pops up every day to try to get me to pay money to Dell is Dell SupportAssist. It does not provide me with any other way to contact support, and I don't see that posting here asking for help with an unidentified problem would help. I am upset and concerned and tired of being harassed by my computer.
