Dell Update application cannot connect to Internet & Windows 10 Illegal Storage causing Boot failure.

I last month upgraded my recently bought (Aug 2015) Inspiron 15 5558 Laptop to Windows 10 and yesterday while working the OS completely hanged for 1 hour and finally ending up in a error saying "Illegal Memory Storage" and then failing to boot up Window 10 afterwards. I had a nightmare to backup & restore the system back to Windows 7 shipped from Factory.

Now when I am trying to check the updates for my Dell System Software/Drivers using "Dell Update" it says "Application Failed to connect to the Internet".

Can someone please help me out?
