Excel: - Format changes won't save

This morning I opened a previously created spreadsheet and the text formatting was changed. Tried other spreadsheets that I have (same situation). I tried changing the formatting in the first spreadsheet, then saved the file. Reopened the file and the formatting is changed again. Created a brand new excel file to try to figure this out or replace original, saved that file. Reopened the brand new file and the text formatting changed again. Any ideas?
