Hi nicegye,

Please help me understand if you facing issue with wireless/wired internet.

For wireless issue follow below mentioned steps:

Check the wireless connection in Safe mode with networking (restart the computer and tapping F8 on dell logo. Select Safe mode with networking).

Also try updating the wireless drivers on the computer. Below

Update the wireless network drivers for the computer.

  1. Visit the following website: http://dell.to/T2hKYc
  2. Enter the Service tag of the computer in the box provided and click “Submit”.
  3. In the next page, click drop down arrow to select the Operating System which is installed in the computer.
  4. Under category Network, select the drivers accordingly and click “Download File” and save the file on desktop.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update the Wireless drivers.

If the issue persists, try updating the wireless router's firmware to the latest available.

For more information, I have provided a link below which can fix the issue:

Is this a wireless or ethernet connection?

Tap Fn and F2 to toggle WiFi on and off. Sometimes switching the WiFi off and then on again resolves the wireless problems.

XP Service Pack 2 is very old and you should at least have Service Pack 3 by now. Also this system is Windows 7 32 bit capable.
