I've got Office 2007 Home and Student running in Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop and my Mail client is Windows Mail. I am having problems with sending docs via mail from within office programmes:
Excel gives an option to send to internet fax only;
Word gives this option and a greyed out option to send to e-mail
PowerPoint gives both options and they work.
As far as I know the Office suite has all the 'out the box' configurations. Does anyone know if this is just an application configuration issue - and if so where the configuration settings are - or if there's some other problem?
in the past to get the option to send to mail, you have to install outlook first, this installs some files which allow that option, once you install outlook you can remove it and the send to mail option remains.
office 2007 home and student does not include outlook.
outlook is required for the 'send' buttons in word/excel/powerpoint to work.
in addition to having outlook installed (which you don't), outlook must be the selected as the default email client.
without outlook your only option to sending a word/excel/powerpoint document is to attache it to your email message composed in your non-outlook email client.
this article is microsoft speak for saying the very same in their long winded, complicated, and confusing way...
