4100MP & IR?

Just saw that the 4100MP has an IR receiver on it.  The standard remote is RF, but I'm wondering if there are IR codes that will control this unit?  Perhaps a remote from one of the lower models will control basic features like Power and Source?  Anyone?

Wow, I never noticed, but you're right. I've been fighting to get the remote control to work through the serial in port for months (to no avail).

Have you tried a universal remote and cycled through the choices?

    tscales, rianelliott,

Serial port? The 1.8m M1-A to D-sub/USB cable cable goes from the projectors M1 Signal In jack to the computers VGA and USB ports. The 4100MP projectors remote is indeed RF. The IR ports are for backwards compatibility to other Dell IR remotes.

I confirmed with Dell Tech Support that the IR port was active (some are not when there is RF) and that it used the same codes as the other Dell projectors, which you can find in the accessories section.  I couldn't find these codes anywhere on the internet, so we were forced to by a remote, though it was only $50, so its not a huge deal.

Long story short, we used IR integration with our AMX control system using the codes from the replacement remote and everything worked great.  We were never able to make the RS232 integration work, regardless of what we tried.

    Use the IR...its a champ.

The Dell 4100MP does indeed have an RS-232 Serial port. Odd 6 pin, which is very frustrating, but it does have the port.

If the 4100MP is compatible with older Dell remotes, which remotes exactly?  Can I buy one? Then I could train my system.

    That would be huge!

I can't believe no one at Dell knew this!

Do you use the remote from the 2200/2300 or the one from the 3300?  The 3300 seems to have the mouse buttons too.

    Thanks!

All of them will work.  We ordered the replacement for the 2200 because all we needed was power on/off and it was cheaper.  But the codes are the same on all of them--some just have more buttons & features.  Just make sure you don't buy the RF replacement!

    Good luck,
