Dell 2300MP and Progressive Scan

Does anyone know if the 2300 can accept Progressive scan signals from a DVD player?  Inoticed a shimmering sometimes in a movie and then when the credits roll I can notice a lttle bluriness and shimmering.  Th DVD player manual said use progressive scan to reduce flickering etc.  When I hit progressive scan, there were two rows of credits rolling.  It was like it the projector went into split screen mode or something. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
