No replies here but Dell Rep suggested "one from Chief that will mount 'flush'"
Projector Ceiling Mount/Dell (A0440998)
We'll see if this one is correct for not, that part # not searchable on Dell site.

I'm hoping it's this one:

someone's alive ou there?!  Hey, you know tech stuff on the MP2300?

If so, read some of the other forums on power failures and nightmares of getting a 3rd and 4th projector that didn't work.  I posted, and I want to buy, but they've got me a bit gunshy on dropping my $$.

Also, what do you know about color wheels?

thanks, rklive

No ideas on those...
ordered first Dell projector (2300)... hope i'm not disappointed. Awaiting arrival.

If there are hardware issues, I would think they are covered under the warranty.

DO NOT FLUSH MOUNT A PROJECTOR TO A CEILING.  you need at least 2.5 feet clearence from it.  its not bull!!!! i blew up a prjector by putting it on a nice small speaker mount about 6" from the ceiling.  it looked nice untill it sounded like some shot a 12 gauge in my living room.  if you have a drop ceiling you can buy a vented tile and then you can mount it.  make sure it can breath fine.  id even put a fan in the vent to regulate the heat.  me and my friend had the same setup and it costs us alot in bulbs untill we wised up.  we would blow a 2000 hr bulb in 80 hrs tops.  so i repeat DO NOT FLUSH OR LOW PROFILE MOUNT A PROJECTOR TO A CEILING.......unless its 4th of july!!!  :smileyvery-happy:

Thank you.

We have had a ceiling-mounted projector in one classroom since end of 1997.

About a year and a half ago, the bulb "blew" and we had to have the whole projector replaced. Now there is a problem with different colors separating, which MAY have to do with dust. We are told now that the projector has to have a thorough internal cleaning "every six months." We have also had a ceiling-mounted projector in another space (much more recent) where the bulb "blew" and had to be replaced. I am in the room of the original (1997) and can see clearly a solid metal place where half an 18" x 36" ceiling tile would otherwise be plus a 3-inch (length) "pipe" on which the projector is mounted, giving at most six inches of clearance. Since we have these in two other lecture hall spaces and are getting ready to have a fifth room equiped (new, this summer) I am wondering if we are causing a lot of headaches due to the lack of clearance (also no vented tile, no fan to clear away the heat) in our (graduate level) school. Please provide me a link to a source which states this requirement, which makes perfect sense to me.

i dont know of any link that will tell you exactly that.  i got yelled at by the repair company that had to fix these projectors.  and also.... if you look at any ceiling mount by a major company and any one that they give the ok to use is 2.5 feet.  in your manual that came with your projector it will say min. ceiling mounting clerance.
