Dell PowerEdge 2970 - Failsafe E1000 - E122A - E122D

Hello,

Recently I got my server out today from my cupboard and that I booted it up and now im getting Failsafe. It use to run game servers a year ago but I wanted to reboot it and now I get the following:

Poweredge 2970 E1000 Failsafe Call Support E122A CPU 2 VTT E122D CPU 2 VDDIO

Things I have done;

  • Re-Thermaled my CPU's
  • Removed all my RAMM and plugged them back in 1 by 1 (Still does the error with no RAMM in)
  • Tried running server on 1 CPU in socket 1 but still same error.
  • Tried unplugging everything and pluging it back in 1 by 1 still same error.

I have no more idea what to do next.

Hello

It is a no POST situation, so I would do no POST troubleshooting. This article wasn't written for 9th generation systems, but it should work as a troubleshooting guide.

The voltage regulator modules for the CPUs are integrated into the system board. The power distribution board appears to be integrated as well. You can try the PSUs one at a time in each slot. You could also try replacing the system battery. I don't think this issue would be caused by a depleted system battery since it just maintains the system clock, but it wouldn't hurt to swap it out.

As long as you are seeing or hearing some change occur when you press the power button then the control panel should be functional. If the control panel is not sending the power on signal to the system board then that could be the issue. Most issues will require replacing the system board since most components are integrated into the system board. You can find documentation on the system support page.

Thanks

I have tried many of them things on the list, but when I boot it, it goes off and on like 4-5 times and then its turns off.

If the issue persists at minimum-to-POST then you will need to start replacing the remaining parts.

Which part would I need replacing?

Look at the taller capacitors (cylinders about 1/4" round and 3/4" tall) on the motherboard and replace any that have bulging tops.
