Hello

If the system is restarting when you press CTL R to enter the controller BIOS then it sounds like the controller is not functioning correctly. You should try entering other things, like the system BIOS. You should also try to rule out a keyboard issue. If the keyboard is not working then it may not be passing the keys.

The controller or other hardware in the system may be faulty or incompatible. You can try disconnecting all unnecessary hardware to rule out potential issues with other hardware in the system.

You can find documentation on our support site.

Hi Daniel -

Maybe it was a timing issue, one more boot, quicker on the draw and using the other ctrl button on the key board worked.  Not sure what the cure was, but as you know...who cares, it worked!

Good to know the feed for even these old boxes is still monitored.  Many thanks for the quick suggestions!
