"Enable Virtualization Poweredge R710 BIOS" not working

Hi,

I just got a used Poweredge R710. I am running Proxmox VE as my hypervisor. I need to enable the Virtualization option in my BIOS. However, whenever I enable virtualization, and I restart the server, the virtulization option is disabled. Is there a fix for this?

Hi,

I was seeing this from the BIOS screen because I always went back into the BIOS to check. However, I have fixed the problem. The problem was the improper placement of the NVRAM Jumper on the motherboard. I corrected it, and my BIOS settings can save now. However, it still doesn't update.

BobChris22,

I would start by looking at the processor, and if it supports Virtualization Technology. I would also make sure that the server is up to date on BIOS, iDrac, and Controller as well..

Let me know what you see.

Hi,

Furthermore, I also have a dual Xeon x5620 setup which supports VT. Thanks.

Hi,

I was able to update the iDRAC and Controller to the latest firmware. However, no matter what I try, the BIOS isn't updating. I tried using a FreeDOS installation of the non-packaged BIOS files. However, that does not work. How can I make a FreeDOS disk easily using the latest version of Rufus? Thank you.

The BIOS is on version 6.4.0. The iDRAC is on version 2.92.

When you enable VT in the BIOS, are you then going to the OS/Hypervisor, and then back to the BIOS, or are you seeing this from saving and restarting from the BIOS, then returning to the BIOS upon startup? If that makes sense.

Also, you're a couple updates behind on the BIOS, I would recommend updating when you have a chance. You can find it here.
