If I get new system with 64 bit Vista.....

Question

What changes  should I expect if my new system has Vista 64?  I've heard drivers are a problem.  Does that mean I probably can't use my current 6 yr. old printer, moniter, what else?  How about current version Windows XP programs?

I doubt you'll have monitor problems. For the printer, check the manufacture's site for 64-bit drivers if it doesn't work (Vista may have a suitable driver when installed).  Most 32-bit programs work fine.

I have had 64 ultimate for several months now. I havent had any driver problems or problems with any 32 bit programs working. There has been a large increase in 64 bit interest and the manufacturers are putting out 64 bit drivers all the time.  On your printer as with my hp photosmart 7350, the manufacturer may not have vista drivers but, vista has resident drivers that will work.  Hp even offers vista drivers made for other printers that will work.  64 bit is the way everything is headed anyway.
