iDrac9 v5.00.10.20 upgrade
Hello Dell community.
Apologies if it's an easy request. I've only dealt with Cisco and Supermicro in the past.
I have to upgrade our racks from 4.40 to 5.0.10.20 and would like to know how disruptive it is. They're ESX hosts. Do I need to put it into maintenance or it's fairly safe not.
The reason for the upgrade is that we're running an old version and we are getting regular "CPU 1 temperature is greater than the upper critical threshold." alerts. These only last for 5 secs.
My understanding is that this is a low risk change and doesn't require a reboot of the host to upgrade iDrac. Can you confirm ?
Thanks
regards
Gaetan

Updating iDRAC does not need a host reboot. Only iDRAC FW get rebooted after FW update.

Thanks for the confirmation. One more thing. I've tried to upload iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_YCFHY_LN64_5.00.10.20_A00.BIN but it states invalid file. Isn't it the correct process ?

For updating iDRAC you need to use .EXE file (Update Package for MS Windows 64-Bit.) or .d9 file. You can download these file from below link
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-sg/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=ycfhy
for .d9 file you need to down load "iDRAC_5.00.10.20_A00.exe" which is a self extractable file. Once you extract the content you will get firmimg.d9 file
