Hello, assuming your system has no underlying fault, it will mostly likely automatically restore your configuration. If you are still worried, here’s how you can back up your BIOS setting.

To back up a Dell server's BIOS settings, access the BIOS setup by restarting your server and pressing the designated key (usually F2), then navigate to the appropriate "Backup" or "Save" option within the BIOS menu, selecting a location to save the backup file, and initiating the backup process; most Dell servers use the iDRAC interface to manage and backup server configurations, including BIOS settings.

Key points about backing up Dell server BIOS settings:

  • Accessing BIOS: Restart your server and press the F2 key while the Dell logo appears to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigation: Locate the "Backup" or "Save" option within the BIOS menu.
  • iDRAC usage: For advanced configuration management, use the integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) to backup server profiles, including BIOS settings.

Steps to backup Dell server BIOS using iDRAC:

  1. Access iDRAC: Log in to the iDRAC web interface.
  1. Navigate to settings: Go to "Configuration" > "Server Configuration Profile".
  1. Select "Export": Choose the "Export" option to create a backup file.
  1. Specify details: Provide a file name and choose a location to save the backup

Hope this helps.

No!

If this would be happen nobody would ever perform an BIOS upgrade.
