PowerEdge 720XD - Firmware Update Issues
Hello,
I recently purchased a server at auction that was configured as a Simplivity CN-3000 node. I am currently trying to update the BIOS and Firmware on the machine with the Dell Bootable ISO. When I attempt to do this I am given an error stating "Update is not allowed on this system. Please contact service provider." Simplivity was taken over by HP now and is not longer releasing drivers for these machines. I'm trying to find out if there is a work around to update the BIOS so I can install some Intel Xeon v2 processors I picked up. Any insight into how I might be able to do this would be extremely helpful.
Thanks!

I recently ran into this also. Here's how I updated mine.
1. Download iDRAC with Lifecycle frimware 2.63.60.62 from dell support site. Use service tag to find correct download, mine is a R720XD for CN-3000
2. Log into iDRAC, go to iDRAC Settings, then Update and Rollback.
3. Upload and apply iDRAC update and reboot.
4. Log back into iDRAC and go back to Update and Rollback.
5. Select https and use downloads.dell.com as the URL.
6. Search and apply updates.
