PowerEdge C4140 storage increase
hi
we have 6 of the above in a vmware cluster, which we move away from.
for Azure Local DR we'd like to use 3 of the C4140s if there would be a way to stick in 3x15TB 2.5" drives in raid (3 way mirror)
the C4140 now has 2 or 4 nvidia gpus, and a 4x10gbps lan pcie and a fiber channel pcie card in it, but i only need the 4x10gbps. so i have a free pcie slot.
the problem is with the where and how to put in 3 2.5" disks. if anywhere, then to the gpu bays but i don't want them to just wiggle, and i think there is no such 'converter' or tray that holds disks instead of the gpus. and even if there was there's the how to connect them with the raid card problem.
all in all and simply asked:
can i put a raid card and a 3x2.5" disk drives in the C4140 without any homebrew forging?
i need 45TB storage in each so m.2 or nvme is out of the question the price would be astronomical.

Hmmm...?
There is no 2.5" 15TB spinning drive.... there are 15TB SSD/NVMe U.2 disks. I would not call these "cheap".
The C4140 is a disk less lever... it comes with Dual SD Card or something silmilar to BOSS for the OS and thats it. There are no disk slots.
There are no RAIDs card listet for connecting a external JBOD or even a RAID Array through SAS for the C4140.
If you have around you can try a H840 and see if it works. To the H840 you can hook up the JBOD MD1400. Otherwise you can try the Dual Port 12G SAS HBA (no RAID).

i didn't say "spinning" i said "drive" then i also said disk, which is because i'm.... old :D
45TB usable storage in 3 way mirror with NVMe is certainly not in our budget which is probably the only way with the C4140
well we do have a spare all flash SAN but i was told to find a solution with internal storage.
thanks, the c4140 will not be it then.
