PowerEdge R530 BIOS / Firmware Updates

Hello all - trying to update all BIOS and firmware on a R530 that is currently running 1.0.2.  Server is ready to get wiped, freshened up, and then repurposed.

Downloaded the Platform Specific ISO PER530 21.12.00 from the Dell support site for the R530, and used Rufus to create a bootable USB.

I booted from it about 4 hours ago, and it took off on it's own.  Checked back in just now hoping it would be finished, but I see SAS-RAID update has failed, and it's just sitting in Serial ATA.

Is this not the best way to go about it?  Any tips or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok so after a total of about 5 hours, it did finally finish.  While some pieces like Serial ATA and Network were successful, the larger items SAS-RAID, the main system BIOS, and the iDRAC / Lifecycle controller did not.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try next?  Thank in advance for any advice!  : )

Shall we update in iDRAC?

Hello and thanks for the reply.  I ended up finding this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki78B4A_XkI&t=784s showing how to use the Dell EMC Repository Manager on a workstation, to download and build a Smart Bootable Linux 7 ISO, and then wrote that to a USB with Rufus.  Success!  The system is fully up to date now.  This is the way to go everyone!

Not only did it run through a whole cycle of updates in only about 30 minutes instead of languishing for 5 hours like the Platform Specific ISO I tried first, but the 2nd pass was even quicker and it ended with a 'no further updates required' so you know when you are done.

Without that video I'd likely have not tried it, but it works!
