PowerEdge T410 failed hard drive
I have a PowerEdge T410 that has 3 drives in it. One is 800 GB. 2 are 300 GB SAS Drives. They are configured in RAID 5 according to OMSA. I plan to replace the failed 300 GB drive with a 300 GB SAS drive. I need to understand what is the process to replace the drive. Is it hot swappable which the server is on. What do I need to do in OMSA?

What controller you have on the server? If the drive is already in failed state then you can how swap the drive. If drive not shown as failed then you can first make the drive offline using OMSA then replace with new drive. Once drive is replaced rebuild should get initiated automatically within few minutes. If rebuild is not getting initiated then you can assign new drive as dedicated hot spare for the virtual disk to initiate rebuild.

I was able to replace the failed drive with the 300 GB drive and checked in OMSA and rebuild the RAID 5. Just one more question. the customer did purchase 2 other drives for the Dell. those drives are not bad. just wants them replaced. what is the procedure to replace 2 good drives?

What storage controller you have on the server?
You can replace the working drive by making the old disk offline first then replace with new drive. After this rebuild should happen automatically. If not you need to assign the new drive as dedicated hot spare for that virtual disk. You need to wait for current rebuild to complete before replacing another drive. After replacing each drive you need to wait till rebuild to complete.
