Usually I advise users to update BIOS and iDRAC/LCC firmware parallelly according to their revision and date. Previously I comment a topic before: https://dell.to/3kNF4jc
For your situation, I would suggest going from BIOS 1.6 to 2.0 to 2.1 then 2.4 (yr 2015). Then move to LCC 2.20 to 2.30 to 2.40 to 2.50 then 2.52 (yr 2018). And back to BIOS.
Also, I may recommend reading every BIOS/LCC firmware release notes for any other prerequisites before updating.
Thanks for the guidance! Based on your suggestion I was able to fully update the server to the latest available firmware. I basically followed the release dates of the updates after 2018 and did every update just to make sure.
