R440 Riser config
I have a R440 that was sold with Riser config 1 (1 x 16 FH).. does this configuration support another riser for an extra pci e slot or can it be changed to a riser 3 configuration?

R440 chassis for 1 FH configuration and 2 LP configuration are different. Hence you will not be able to change to riser 3 on this configuration.
