Rack Specification for DELL servers
Hello,
I work for a hosting company, and we need to buy racks in order to store DELL servers.
Does it exist a document which list the specification expected for Rack; In terms of air flow, dimensions, kind of door (with hole or not).
thanks to provide information or urls
Thanks

The Dell servers require a mounting depth of 29". This is the distance from the front uprights to the rear uprights. The standard Dell rail kits have some adjustment to allow for variation. The installation depth is the overall physical depth that the server and rail assembly occupies in the rack. This varies with the model of servers but can require as much as 36" of space in the cabinet.
The doors of the cabinet must have a minimum of 63% perforation front and rear to allow for proper air flow. If the doors are solid or do not meet this requirement then additional equipment must be used to manage the heat generated by the Dell equipment.

Does DELL provide a spec document about rack; I didn't find it in the DELL, but perhaps someone has the luck to see such document.
Thanks

Why not buy a Dell rack (or rack from a different vendor)? They aren't that expensive (compared to the equipment you'd be putting in it) and unless physical damage occurs, they'll last you 'forever'.

What we want to do is have a doc / a spec for racks to install DELL servers, and find a company which sell racks that match these requirements.
Thanks

RackSolutions is an example of a company that specializes in racks and railkits for racks from other vendors, but just search Google or so for server racks and you'll likely find several options.
PS. Personally I'd recommend against a 2-post rack.
