Yes, application-consistent bookmarks should be generated in conjunction with the quiescing of an app or database or when the app or database is shutdown.
RecoverPoint has a vss utility (kvss) that can used to quiesce SQL or Exchange. Other Dell EMC software products such as AppSync also has this capability and more, and is used in conjunction with RecoverPoint.
