RP conversion from EX to SE with an UNITY Array

Question

Hi, We recently migrated from a VNX7500 to UNITY 400 array, to perform the migration while continuing to protect data to a remote site (DR), we converted our RP SE (VNX) to RP EX to be able to add the UNITY 400. Everything went well and the migration is now completed and we retired the VNX7500. As the EX license was temporary only, we want to convert back to RP SE with the UNITY. When I try to do the conversion with RecoverPoint Deployment Manager, I get the following error: Splitter APM00xxxxxxxxx is not a VNX/CLARiiON splitter. The wizard cannot perform conversion while this splitter is in the system. Please remove the splitter and try again. Is there a way to convert back to SE with the UNITY array or do we have to reinstall the cluster, and if we have to reinstall the cluster, does it mean that we have to reconfigure all the CGs again? Hi Nuno,

There's no need to reinstall the cluster. What's going on here is that for VNX with RP/SE license, there's also an option for RP/SE installation. Unity/VNXe doesn't require the SE installation type, even if the license is SE. So, if the VNX is decommissioned and its splitters are removed so only the Unity splitters are there, there's no need to perform any conversion and you are good to go. Unity and VNXe splitters cannot work in SE installation type but only in classic.
