Exchange replication without truncating log files
I have configured RM to take snapview snapshots of an exchange server. I did not realise that the process would involve truncating the log files. Our intention is to use RM snapview functionality for point in time copies of the exchange database and log files but we also intend to continue backup procedures using a 3rd party product. The backup software performs a full backup each evening and a log backup during the day.
SO the RM snapview will interfere with the backup software strategy by truncating the log files (as the RM snapview will take place 3 times daily). The documentation states that ONLINE COPY method does not truncate the logs but that this method should only be used for testing and diagnositc purposes. Why is this?
I would like to allow the backup software to continue running as is (as i do not manage this).
I would like to take exchange snapshots using RM 3 times 10am-6pm.
Can i use the ONLINE COPY method to do this?
