Replication Manager and BCV Remote Symm
I have a question I believe I know the answer to but I would like to be sure.
We currently use Time Finder and Replication Manager in our environment but we use it on a single array.
We have an application that we are discussing running production
from one Symmetrix array and then using Time Finder/Replication Manager to
clone to BCVs in another remote Symmetrix array (secondary data center) for test. I do not think this is possible....the only way I know how to do this is the following..
Setup production with R1 and use SRDF to R2s at the secondary data center and then use Replication Manager/Time Finder to clone off the R2s to BCVs.
Am I correct in this?
Or is there a way to clone a STD device across the SRDF link to a BCV in another array without using SRDF?
Thanks
Chris

I'm not the Sym Expert but I saw the following lines in the RM 5.1 Product Guide:
"When you create an SRDF replica, Replication Manager can use a
Symmetrix (R1/Standard) as the source and the target replica will be
created on a BCV of the R2. When you run the job to create a remote
replica using SRDF, Replication Manager performs the following
steps automatically:
1. Creates an SRDF R2 copy on the remote Symmetrix system.
2. Creates a BCV copy of the R2 on the remote Symmetrix system."
