Replication Manager and Hyper-V
Hi,
is there anything similar available or needed like the "RM Proxy for VMware" in order to get consistent RM-Snapshots of Hyper-V-(R2)-CSVs, or is a simple snapsure-snap of the resp. iSCSI-Lun triggered via RM Manager enough?
Our Scenario consists of two Hyper-V-Servers sharing (currently) one CSV-iSCSI-Lun on a Celerra NS-120. I'd like to do nightly snaps of that CSV, mount them to another host and back them up to tape via Data Protector Agent in order to recover the whole CSV or just single VMs in case of corruption, just like we already do with Replication Manager (Proxy) for our VMware-Cluster!
possible...?
if yes, is there already any best practices available on how to do that or can someone tell me?
I've already read "H6530 Using Celerra with ... Hyper-V R2 over iSCSI", however, it does not give much detail about snapshots and Hyper-V (at least for CSV) and none about RM. Note that i currently don't need application-consistent snaps of the apps running in the VMs, just consistent snaps of the VMs/CSV from the Hyper-V-perspective!
Because there is some sort of communication between RM and VMware VC (AFAIK RM triggering Snapshots of the VMs via VC before snapping the resp. VMFS-Lun), i guess there is some sort of interaction between RM and Hyper-V needed also in order for the CSV-snaps being consistent (VSS-requestor?)?
