Does anyone have experience replicating a virtual directory within IIS. My IIS installation uses a virtual directory that is a cifs location on a Celerra NAS. Any help would be appreciated

I want to keep the web content of two web servers identical. Currently I use double take to complete this. Double take however only supports volumes. The new webserves are vmware servers that have been given a UNC path to a celerra to hold web content. IIS is configured to use a virtual directory and this will be the location on the web content. The setup is the same on the other server. I would like a method of keeping the virtual directories in sync.

As I said Double take doe not support UNC but Replistor does and supports it going to NAS.

I want to know has anyone used Replistor to keep to UNC paths in sync if they are virtual directories. If I replicate the inetpub is this enough or do I need to do something else to allow it to work?

RepliStor can replicate from a UNC path on the Source to a UNC Path on the Target node.  I do not recommend just attaching both UNC paths to one RepliStor node.  It can be don but there is a large slowdows unless you have RS on both sides of the connection.

The only problem is that Mirroring does not work for UNC patch so you will have to do scheduled Sync's instead of realtime mirroring.  You also need to make sure that The Celerra is fully integrated into the Windows AD Domain or the permissions will not replicate correctly.  If you get any error messages about not being able to replicate the "Extended Attributes" (EA) then there is an oprion in the Celerra to enable EA attribute updates.

If you have any specific issues I recommend you open an EMC Supprort case, but the short answer is that you can replicate (not Mirror) the IIS folders from one Celerra to another.
