Solutions Enabler Install on Win2003 Enterprise x64
I am working through the Replication Manager install and I need to install the Solutions Enabler.
Notes:
** - I am running Win2003 Enterprise x64.
** - I am running an MSCS Cluster
** - I am running SQL 2005 Enterprise x64 with multiple instances (one instance active on one cluster member. second instance active on second cluster member).
** - I am using ISCSI Client (2.02 x64) and Powerpath (4.6.x x64) with MPIO
** - I am attached to a CX300i.
** - The clustered SQL2005 is all up and running, this is an attempt to get Replication Manager running (thus utilizing Snapview).
1. When installing Solutions Enabler, what components do I need to select? I am not big on installing "complete" because it likely installs a bunch of junk I don't need.

Firstly, right now in RM 5.0x, it is a 32-bit application and so you must insure you install the 32-bit and not the x64 or ia64 versions of Solutions Enabler.
(The next release of RM will support x64/ia64 SE)
Secondly,
You should be able to just install using the default options, just ensure not to install an SE VSS Providers like Clariion, Symm or Common hardware providers.
Thanks
James.

I'm venting to EMC, not you so please don't hate me.
We recently came back from World 2007 and were excited by the new features of RM 5.0.2 (parallel ESEUtil, etc.).
So we upgraded our environment from 4 to 5. Well, after upgrading our RM environmnet, our SRDF/CE 64 Bit SQL Clusters no longer are able to take RM clones due to the limitations of RM 5 and Solutions Enabler.
SRDF/CE on 64bit platforms *requires* 64bit Solutions Enabler. I can't believe EMC dropped the ball on this and released the product without 64 bit support (the clones worked in 4.x).
Now we can't even upgrade to Exchange 2007 because we are an SRDF/CE shop (Exchange 2007 requires 64bit OS, and because we are SRDF/CE, we need 64bit solutions enabler).
To me, RM 5.0 is really a downgrade.

Trust me when I say I can understand the pain you find yourself in, and on behalf of the RM product as it states right now, let me apologise.
I do know RM engineering are actively working on a 64-bit solution for RM to support Se on x64 SE environments such as SRDF/CE 2.2+.
When definitive release dates are set I will update here.
Thanks
James.

As promised, support for SE 64-bit with RM will be in RM 5.1, which is tentatively targeted for GA early December.
Regards
James.
