Infrared On Precision M60 - what com port?
I have a precision M60 it has an infra red port on the side that is
not enabled when shipped. By pressing F2 when booting I can choose to turn this
on but do not know what com port to assign anyone got any ideas?

Inspiron 2650 - SP2 - COM port settings erased
Doanloaded SP2 last week. Can't get on internet now. My COM4 port
settings (COM4 is my internal port that the modem uses) have been erased - when
checking Properties, I get an error message that Windows can't detect the
settings, and instructing me to reset manually.

Missing COM and LPT ports on I8600 after clean OS reinstall
I did a clean install of XP Pro on my new Inspiron 8600. Reinstalled

Unable to register COM Class objects Event ID 102
Have New PowerEdge 2650 running Win2K with SP3 and Array Manager
3.4.0.
Everytime the server is booted, an event with the message " Unable to
register COM Class objects" Event ID 102 is written to the event log.

Howdy people,
I have: Dell Optiplex 170L / P4 2.80GHz / 2GB DDR2 SDRAM / WinXP Pro
SP2.
For some reason, Com port will be active on administrator account, but
not on another User account. I receive an error in my applications

com port modem is connected to doesn't show in device manager
in my dimension 4500s, dev mgr lists only com port 1 and lpt1. modem
is connected to com 3. modem is working properly according to dev mgr. when
trying to connect to internet get message "windows does not list a modem for
this computer". ran a repair of win xp which got my desktop back.

Com port problem
Com port won´t work with some of my software. Tried a usb-to-serial
adapter, and it works in some cases, but it´s assigned to Com5, and some
(older) software only supports Com1-4. Computer is Inspiron 8600 with XP. Any
help appreciated.

I recenty received a Dell Dimension XPS T550. It had WIN2000Pro on it.
The internal Standard 28.8 modem worked fine. I didn't like WIN2000PRO so I
