CleanMsgCenter
Hi there,
when closing all volumes, all indexing is finished, the MsgCenter has still quite some content in it. I read there is a tool callec CleanMsgCenter. Does anybody know it? How can one get hold of this?
Thanks,
Jochen.

Otherwise you'll need to contact support.

You have to contact Emailxtender support for that tool. I sure you have already done that but make sure that you disconnect the connection mailboxes, let queues to drain, close all the volumes and watch if indexing is finished then STOP all Legato Emailxtender services. If You can't find cleanMsgcenter, method below can be used at your own risk to clean Msgcenter. Risk involved: Actual Data Loss if process not carefully carried out.
Alternate way to clean Msgcenter
----------------------------------------------
Search MsgCenter for files names similar to "467889ah323434ad3kj932n5" having no extension as well as ".msg" (if EXCHANGE ENV.) or ".onm" (If DOMINO ENV.) extensions and all these files from Msgcenter to Msgcenter\baddir location. Make sure you search all these files to baddir first as these are msg files that we don't want to lose. Then search Msgcenter for file with ".access", ".ref" and any other files like ".doc" or .pdf or .xml or .xls or .jpeg or .gif etc. and delete them because these files are the left overs after messages get unpacked , archived and indexed.
THIS PROCESS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT WITH CAUTION BECAUSE WE DON"T WANT TO LOSE MESSAGES IN THE FORM OF BUFFER FILES OR .MSG FILES OR .ONM FILES. IF YOU DELETE THESE FILES BY MISTAKE YOU MIGHT COME ACROSS DATA LOSS SITUATION. SEARCH THESE FILES FIRST AND SECURE THEM TO MSGCENTER\BADDIR LOCATION. AFTER MOVING THESE FILE AND COMPLETING MSGCENTER CLEANUP. RUN BADDIRPROCESSOR UTILITY WHICH WILL CHECK THESE MESSAGE AGAINST DB'S TO MAKE SURE IF THESE FILES ARE IN ARCHIVES AND IF NOT IT WILL ARCHIVE THEM IN TO NEW CONTAINERS
