Exchange 2003 using Journaling and UDA

I am new to EX, and we are still planning out how we are going to use EX. I am looking at having a mixed environment using both Journaling (compliance) and UDA (Retention). Anyone out there use both types of archiving in there setup? any recommendations?

Also, my thoughts are, is to get the system up and running using Journaling, and then integrate UDA cabinets/folders.
