Microsoft Outlook and Office in SourceOne Environment

We have been asked to verify the need of Microsoft Outlook or Office in our SourceOne Environment. We are currently running SourceOne on version 7.22.2028 Questions are: 1 - Is Outlook alone needed on the SourceOne server or is the entire Microsoft Office suite needed now? 2 - Is there a specific version of Outlook or Office that should be used?

    Greetings,

You need Outlook on SourceOne hosts especially worker and web services hosts.

Outlook needs to be 32 bit and using RPC over HTTPS till a time MAPI of HTTP gets supported in coming releases.

You should also look to upgrade SourceOne version since you are 6 service packs behind latest service pack.

For compatibility of components you can refer SourceOne compatibility guide:

    Best regards,

So just to verify you only need Outlook installed on the servers and not the entire Office Suite? I don't know with the new integrations of all Office products together how easy it would be to only load the Outlook program.

    Greetings,

It is up to you if you want to only install outlook or whole office. Versions that SourceOne supports on SourceOne servers for Outlook usually have option available to only install outlook.

If you install whole office, that would not break anything. SourceOne needs outlook for MAPI work so it will continue to use that.

    Regards,
